Shamrock dark

Portadown A-A Cliftonville

This evening’s Sports Direct Premiership fixture between Cliftonville and Portadown at Shamrock Park was abandoned due to floodlight failure shortly before half-time.

The Reds had been leading 1-0 courtesy of a wonder strike from Joseph Toole, while Brian Healy saw a penalty saved by home keeper Alex Moore.

There were 41 minutes on the clock when the lights went out and, after taking boths sets of players off the pitch, referee Chris Morrison was left with no alternative but to bring the game to a halt after almost half an hour without any resolution.

We thank our supporters for their patience and good humour throughout the lengthy delay and will provide information on the match’s rearrangement and admission arrangements as soon as possible.
