Rory Hale struck the only goal of the game as a wholehearted Cliftonville performance was rewarded with maximum points against Coleraine.

The Reds had to absorb some early visiting pressure but, after settling into their groove, made the breakthrough when Hale put the finishing touch on an eye-catching passing move.

Chances for Cliftonville to extend their advantage came and went during a lively start to the second period and, as the Bannsiders began to exert greater control, the hosts’ defensive capabilities shone through as the team stood up to everything Coleraine threw at them, including a late Oliver Devlin chance that PJ Morrison kept out.
