Half the battle

Moyola Park 1-2 Cliftonville

Two second-half goals saw Cliftonville come from behind to defeat Moyola Park in this afternoon’s friendly at Mill Meadow.

Trailing to Kenny Kane’s close-range strike, the Reds levelled through Micheal Glynn before substitute Callum McCay’s clever finish completed the turnaround.

The visitors had started brightly but, after going close through Glynn and Jonny Addis, found themselves behind when Kane supplied the finishing touch to a well-worked move on the flank.

A couple of late offside calls denied the Reds a first-half leveller, while Ryan Curran was just unable to convert a delivery from strike partner Conor Falls.

Glynn drew a fine save from Moyola’s keeper after the interval but it wasn’t long before he delivered the equaliser; weaving his way past a host of challenges before squeezing the ball home.

McCay had an effort cleared off the line and Shaun Leppard saw an attempt charged down before Cliftonville bagged their winner when pressure from Ryan Corrigan forced a defensive error and, when the ball was played into the danger area, McCay was on hand to flick into the far corner.

Cliftonville: Morrison, Casey, Addis, Keaney, Glynn, Barr, Wilson, Gordon, Hale, Curran Falls. Subs: Ridd, Leppard (for Casey), McCay (for Gordon), Hawthorne (for Falls), Sheridan (for Hale), Corrigan (for Curran).
