Adding up for some more

Cliftonville Football Club are very pleased to announce that Jonny Addis has signed a contract extension.

The 32-year-old defender, who joined the Reds from Ballymena United in the summer of 2021, has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Solitude until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Formerly with Carrick Rangers and Glentoran, Addis quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite and even has a Supporters’ Club named in his honour.

As well as collecting the Cliftonville FC Player of the Year award at the end of his first season with the Reds, Jonny was also voted Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates and, though noted for his exploits at the back, claimed the Goal of the Season accolade for the 2023/24 term courtesy of an outrageous long-range strike against Newry City.

That was just one of 13 goals he has scored in 187 appearances for the Club and, after turning out 48 times en route to Bet McLean Cup success and European qualification last season, supporters will no doubt be delighted to learn that they can look forward to at least another year of seeing Addis represent Ireland’s Oldest Football Club.
