Physical break

Jonny Addis says memories of recent meetings with Glenavon will ensure Cliftonville are primed for tomorrow’s Danske Bank Premiership encounter at Solitude.

The sides have contested a number of closely-fought battles over the last 12 months and, having been part of the team that recorded a narrow 1-0 win at Mourneview Park in mid-September, Addis is well aware of the challenge in store.

“It will be a tough game, we got a really tough game down there,” says the 30-year-old.

“They’re a physical side and there will be no surprises, they will come and give us a game. They did the same last year – we didn’t get an easy game against them here last year and we’ll be expecting the same.

“They’re a big, physical, strong side – they’ve two strikers that are very good at holding the ball up and getting them high up the pitch. We’ll be expecting a tough game, but we’re looking forward to it.”

You can read the full Addis interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Carrying pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 11th issue of the campaign celebrates Cliftonville Ladies’ title triumph and steps 90, 17 and 11 years down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.
