Paddy McLaughlin has called on Cliftonville to rediscover their scoring touch as they prepare for tonight’s Danske Bank Premiership clash with Coleraine.

The Reds head to The Showgrounds on the back of successive goalless draws in their opening post-split fixtures and, while happy with a defensive record that has seen his side concede just once in their last nine League outings, McLaughlin acknowledges the need to hit the goal trail again.

“We probably need to show a bit more quality in the top end of the pitch,” he says.

“Our off-the-ball stuff and our organisation have both been excellent and we probably just need to be a bit more clinical. That’s as a team as whole, it’s not just about strikers – it’s the likes of set piece situations and in general play with full-backs getting forward and so on.”

Tonight’s game represents the first of three consecutive away outings to conclude Cliftonville’s Premiership campaign and McLaughlin believes the Club’s fans will have a big role to play in the coming weeks.

“Our away form has been excellent this season,” he adds.

“We’ll bring the Red Army out and they’ll be there in their numbers. With the atmosphere they can create, it almost recreates a home game for us.

“They’ve been doing it for us all year home and away and hopefully they’ll continue to do that, which I’m sure they will.

“The players have responded to it all year too and the boys are raring to go. It’ll be tough, as all games against Coleraine always are, but the boys looking forward to it.”
