In celebration of Paul Straney
Cliftonville supporters are alerted to a special charity match taking place in memory of Paul Straney tomorrow.
A Reds Legends XI will take on their Downpatrick counterparts in a fundraising friendly at St Dillon’s Park, where Friends of the Cancer Centre will be the beneficiaries.
Any County Down-based Cliftonville fans unable to attend tomorrow’s encounter with Newington at Solitude might instead be interested in calling in to see the likes of former skippers Liam Fleming and George McMullan, Premiership title-winners Marc Smyth and Ryan Catney and Holland brothers Barry and Mark in action for a very worthy cause.
Straney, who sadly passed away in 2017, was a much-loved friend, team-mate and character at both Clubs and all donations made at tomorrow’s game will be donated to Friends of the Cancer Centre in his name.
After the match – which gets under way at 1pm – everyone is invited back to the Avenue Bar, where Paul’s good friend Dennis Feenan will provide music as the celebration of Paul’s life continues in the way he would have wanted – with laughter, stories and good company.
