Eamonn Tohill was on the scoresheet as Northern Ireland Under-17s kicked off their two-game trip to Spain with a 2-1 friendly victory over Sweden on Wednesday evening.
Tohill – who was joined in the starting XI by Cliftonville team-mates Shea McGarry, David Green and Paul Stanfield with Alfie Anderson named among the substitutes – opened the scoring after 25 minutes at the Pinatar Arena, where a penalty from West Ham United’s Joel Kerr made it 2-0 ahead of the Swedes pulling one back nine minutes from time.
Andy Waterworth’s side return to the Murcia venue for a friendly with Norway tomorrow afternoon, with all at Solitude naturally wishing the Reds’ representation well for the game.
