Jim Magilton acknowledges that Cliftonville are overwhelming favourites for tomorrow’s Clearer Water Irish Cup fifth round clash with Dundela, but insists that absolutely nothing will be taken for granted against the east Belfast outfit.
Though the Duns sit bottom of the Playr-Fit Championship, recently-appointed Manager Clifford Adams has been busy in the transfer market and could send out something of a new-look team for their assignment at Solitude, where Magilton – who has this week overseen the acquisitions of Joseph Toole, Liam McStravick and Brian Healy – says his side will approach their task in a professional manner as the begin their journey towards the target of a third consecutive Irish Cup Final appearance.
“We’ve done so well over recent years, we want to continue that,” he says.
“We’re well aware that a home fixture against Dundela is one we are expected to win, so we know the expectations are on us.
“We never take any opposition for granted. We respect the qualities that they will bring to the table and we understand that we have to present ourselves and go out and really try to dominate the game. That’s what we have to do.
“No opposition make that easy, none. In all the time that I have been at the Club, there hasn’t been a game that the opposition hasn’t caused us some difficulties.”
