Fresh build

Jim Magilton says he will be looking for Cliftonville to “build on the positives” of the past week-and-a-half when they renew rivalries with Linfield at a sold-out Solitude tomorrow.

The Reds approach the Sports Direct Premiership encounter on the back of last weekend’s hard-fought victory over Carrick Rangers, which came just days after Magilton’s men had eliminated the Blues from the County Antrim Shield.

Though he expects a fierce challenge from the visitors, the Cliftonville boss expects his own players to be buoyed by recent form.

“It gives us a great bit of confidence and it is about building on that,” he said.

“It’s another big game where we need to step up and make sure we replicate what we’ve been doing.

“It is setting the tone for the players. The players set the tone in training and that is important, and now we just want to build on the positives.

“I think that the past two games is a template to where we want to work from in terms of determination to keep the ball out of the net, our intensity in our play and in our press – which has been very good the last two games.

“We just need to replicate that. This game is built around repetition, good habits and foundations.”
