Hailing our Super stars

Cliftonville’s SuperCupNI Champions took centre stage at Solitude yesterday, offering fans a welcome opportunity to congratulate the Wee Reds on their wonderful achievement.

Paraded on the pitch at half-time of the Sports Direct Premiership clash with Coleraine, the youngsters – who claimed Minor Section honours at the renowned youth football tournament earlier this month – proudly showed off their silverware to supporters in the McAlery Stand and Main Stand Lower.

After beating Loughgall 4-1 in their opening SuperCupNI Group C game, Cliftonville overcame Surf Select 6-2 the following day and, though defeated by Leeds United, they progressed to take on Shamrock Rovers in the semi-final stage.

Following a 1-1 draw at Anderson Park, the Reds triumphed in a penalty shootout to set up a showdown with Linfield, where a single goal proved enough to earn the trophy.

As well as commending the players, all at the Club again place on record our thanks and congratulations to the team’s dedicated coaching staff and, of course, to the many proud parents, siblings and extended families who have shared in the joy of the squad’s triumph over the last couple of weeks.
