Eyes up for Joe
A souvenir edition of The Red Eye will be on sale when Cliftonville face Derry City in Joe Gormley’s Testimonial at Solitude tomorrow afternoon.
The 32-page issue – available for £3 and which has a limited print run – reflects on Joe’s career since joining the Reds back in 2011, from a stunning debut strike against The New Saints right up to Thursday night’s friendly with Loughgall.
As the most decorated player in the history of Ireland’s Oldest Football Club, we review every honour the Ardoyne man has won with his beloved Reds (including one often forgotten about trophy) and catalogue the goals that have cemented his status as a modern day legend.
With 527 Cliftonville appearances under his belt, Joe was charged with the unenviable task of selecting his favourite five matches from the last 14 years – all of which carried one rather unusual theme.
You can read all of Joe’s selections and take a look back over his Testimonial calendar in tomorrow’s special edition of our Matchday Magazine, which is sure to prove a valuable addition to the compendiums of avid collectors and occasional readers alike.
Tickets for the game are available online, with supporters reminded that the match will kick off at the revised time of 1pm.
