Irish Cup meeting

Following concerns raised by many supporters about the policing of last season’s Clearer Water Irish Cup Final at and around Windsor Park, Cliftonville Football Club sought a meeting with the Irish Football Association and the Police Service of Northern Ireland, with both parties having been involved in consultations with the Club ahead of the game.

In a meeting with the PSNI last week, the Club expressed in robust terms our deep concerns at the decisions, actions and communications that transpired on the day. We expressly highlighted the treatment that many of our fans were subjected to, particularly on leaving the stadium.

Following a full and frank discussion, it was agreed that there were a number of questions raised that required further consideration including future planning, decision making and communications. The Club and the PSNI have agreed to a further discussion in the coming weeks as we each reflect further on the meeting. Both the Club and the PSNI voiced their disappointment that the IFA had declined to attend this meeting.
