Knock on Wood

Cliftonville Football Club are very pleased to announce that Eric McWoods has signed a new contract.

With five goals in 12 appearances since joining during the January Transfer Window, the 29-year-old striker played a key role in the Reds booking UEFA Conference League qualification via the European Play-Offs.

After beginning his senior career with Kansan side Kaw Valley in his native United States, Eric won the Estonian Cup with Narva Trans in 2019 prior to joining Zalaegerszeg in the Hungarian top flight.

Brief stints with Maltese Premier League side Balzan and Shabab Al-Aqaba of Jordan preceded a switch to Finn Harps in the League of Ireland, where he proved a popular figure ahead of a move to Sandvikens of Sweden in March 2023.

He returned to Ireland earlier this year and, after opening his goal account with a stunning solo effort against Carrick Rangers, went on to find the net against Ballymena United (twice) and Glenavon before putting the seal on Cliftonville’s Play-Off victory over Glentoran.

Though an early injury forced him out of the Play-Off Final against Coleraine, Eric can nevertheless look forward to representing the Reds in Europe after penning a deal that keeps him at Solitude until the end of the 2025/26 season.
