Point of frustration
Larne 1-1 Cliftonville
Cliftonville were made to pay for missed chances as Larne hit back to snatch a late point in this afternoon’s Sports Direct Premiership clash at Inver Park.
Having already gone close through Taylor Steven and Joe Gormley, the Reds eventually pulled ahead when Gormley powered home an effort from a tight angle, and the visitors came close to doubling their advantage before the break courtesy of both Rory Hale and Gormley.
It was more of the same after the break with Hale drawing a save from Rohan Ferguson and Micheal Glynn twice going close to grabbing the security goal that would have put Cliftonville in firm control.
Having survived a couple of scares when dangerous deliveries across the face of goal weren’t seized upon, the Reds were undone with just two minutes left when Ryan Nolan scrambled home from close range.
A red card for Jonny Addis – who appeared unaware he had already been booked by referee Shane Andrews – made for a nervy finish but the 10-men defended one final Larne attack to ensure they departed with something to show for their efforts.
