Time to Add momentum
Jonny Addis says Cliftonville will be out to deliver a positive response to what he describes as last week’s “worrying” performance when they take to the field against Larne this evening.
Having produced their best displays of the season against Loughgall and Linfield earlier this month, the Reds failed to hit their stride in slipping to defeat against Ballymena United last time out and Addis has revealed a hunger within the squad to get back on track at Solitude tonight.
“We put in a good performance against Linfield the last time at home, albeit that we didn’t get the three points. We’ll be looking to replicate that in many ways and go one better and get a result,” explains the defender, who turns 32 today.
“That is the challenge now, to respond, and no better game I suppose than home to the Champions.
“We need to find momentum, that’s what we came to build on our last couple of performances – which had probably been our best two performances of the season. We weren’t able to do that and we have to find a way now to kick on and get a wee bit of momentum going again, starting with Larne.”
You can read the full Addis interview interview in this evening’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.
Just our second issue of the season, The Red Eye is now being produced on an occasional basis, with tonight’s offering carrying Jim Magilton’s insight from the Manager’s office, as well as assessing the balancing act provided by Larne’s forthcoming fixture list and stepping 145, 105 and 44 years down memory lane, plus plenty more besides.
