Augur well
With three wins and a draw from their first five games of the domestic season, Cliftonville enjoyed an encouraging August – but who do you think was the team’s top performer?
After a Ryan Curran goal got the better of Portadown on opening day, Joe Gormley and Shea Gordon did the damage in a 2-1 victory over Glenavon at Mourneview Park before Gormley struck again to complete a hat-trick of Mid-Ulster successes when Dungannon Swifts were defeated at Solitude.
Curran was on target from the penalty spot when the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by Crusaders in the North Belfast Derby ahead of August drawing to a close with this weekend’s narrow reverse at the hands of Glentoran.
