Supporting cast

Having once again turned out in their numbers, it’s no surprise to learn that the Red Army contributed to a record-breaking opening weekend in the Sports Direct Premiership.

Supporters in the McAlery Stand and Main Stand Lower were a signficiant part of the highest ever crowd at a Cliftonville v Portadown match under the NI Football League umbrella, with the 1936 fans inside Solitude representing almost double the fixture’s average tally during that time period.

As well as being part of a 7% increase in attendance across the Premiership and Playr-Fit Championship compared to last season’s curtain-raising schedule, Reds fans also played a role in an 11% boost in BBC iPlayer viewership.

Cliftonville’s first away day of the new campaign sees Jim Magilton’s side travel to tackle Glenavon at Mourneview Park on Saturday before hosting Dungannon Swifts next Tuesday night, with tickets for both matches available below.
