No overcoming the Auds

Auda 2-0 Cliftonville [4-1 on aggregate]

Cliftonville bowed out of Europe despite a valiant first-half rescue mission against Auda in Latvia this afternoon.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg of this UEFA Conference League second qualifying round tie, the Reds went close through Ryan Curran, Shaun Leppard and Ruaidhri Donnelly during a largely encouraging opening 45 minutes at Skonto Stadium, only for the hosts to pull away after the interval.

Shortly after Donnelly had seen a header saved, Abiodun Ogunniyi opened the scoring before Abdulrahman Taiwo joined his fellow first leg goalscorer in finding the net.

Substitute Joe Gormley sent two headed attempts wide as Cliftonville sought a cancellation but Auda ultimately held on for comfortable passage to the next round.
