Group action
The opening process in the draw for the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round has taken place at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon – with the list of potential opponents for Cliftonville or Auda now whittled down to just 10.
The winners of the tie between the Reds and the Latvian Virsliga side will be unseeded and have been listed as Team 10 in Group 4, where they will be matched with one of KAA Gent/ Vikingur, Djurgarden/ Progres Nierderkorn, Vitoria SC/ Floriana, Breidablik/ Drita or Sarajevo/ Spartak Trnava when UEFA’s Head of Club Competitions Tobias Hedtstuck conducts the full draw this afternoon.
Both teams could therefore be in line to tackle a previous European foe with Belgian outfit KAA Gent having been Cliftonville’s Intertoto Cup opposition in 2007 (and whom we coincidentally faced having overcome a Latvian representative in the previous round), while Slovakia’s Spartak Trnava defeated Auda in last season’s Conference League.
Tickets for Wednesday’s opening meeting with Auda at Solitude are continuing to sell fast and you can secure your seat for the occasion right now by visiting our ticketing portal.
