Arrivals sweet

Deadline Day arrivals Paddy Burns and Eric Yoro are both eager to make a positive impact at Solitude.

Tomorrow’s Sports Direct Premiership encounter with Coleraine presents the duo with the opportunity of home debuts and, having made his bow from the bench in Tuesday’s comeback draw at Glentoran, Burns says there were multiple reasons behind him putting pen to paper when Jim Magilton came calling.

“Jim didn’t exactly have to sell it to me, but he just said Cliftonville are competing at the top,” explains the 23-year-old.

“There’s good players here, players do well here and you get a chance here so, having played here in the Academy and gone to St Malachy’s and knowing a lot of die-hard Cliftonville fans, I’m delighted to be here.

“I think he’s a top coach and a top Manager. The backroom staff here are also brilliant and I think that’s evident in performances and results.”

Yoro watched Tuesday’s clash among the Red Army at The Oval and is likewise enthused about agreeing a loan move from Bolton Wanderers – especially after carrying out some research of his own.

“I told my mum about it first and we sat down, talked about it, looked up the website and quickly learned that the Club has great history and how good they are,” says the former UCD man.

“I knew that I’d be experiencing something good at this Club and that, while I’m here, hopefully I can show everyone what I can bring.”

You can read both interviews in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Carrying Jim Magilton’s pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 14th issue of the campaign reassesses the Bannsiders’ recent form as well as providing your latest player poster – plus plenty more besides.
