Condolences

Cliftonville Football Club are saddened to learn of the death of former player Kenny McKeague at the age of 92.

Outside left Kenny registered 46 goals in 204 appearances for the Reds, scoring on his debut in an Ulster Cup victory over Ballymena United on September 16, 1953.

His last outing, which came in an Irish League fixture with Ards in April 1961, saw him suffer a broken leg after just eight minutes and, while this injury brought an abrupt end to his playing career, his proud association with Cliftonville continued with coaching roles for both the Olympic and first team and included a spell as Caretaker Manager when Kevin McGarry was recovering from illness.

Though perhaps most notably recognised for the lengthy service he provided to Linfield as their Trainer between 1974 and 2018, he is fondly remembered and appreciated for his sterling efforts on and off the pitch at Solitude, and all at Cliftonville FC extend our condolences to Kenny’s family and many friends at this difficult time.

May he rest in peace.
