Club Statement: Irish Cup Fifth Round
Cliftonville Football Club has this evening received communication from the Irish Football Association regarding our Clearer Water Irish Cup Round fifth round tie against Coleraine on Friday, January 5.
In the correspondence, the following was advised;
“…the Challenge Cup Committee has considered a protest letter received from Coleraine FC regarding the above fixture.
“The Committee have determined that the protest was not received in accordance with Rule 23 of the Challenge Cup Rules.
“The protest has therefore been dismissed.”
We have noted press and social media speculation over the last number of days regarding the change made to the Cliftonville teamsheet for this fixture. Cliftonville FC wish to clarify that all was done in full compliance with the IFA Challenge Cup Rule 7 and that we were always content with our position on this matter.
