Odhran Casey set Cliftonville on course for victory over Ballymena United at Solitude this afternoon.

The central defender headed in a 30th minute opener after Ronan Doherty’s effort had come back off the crossbar, ensuring the Reds were finally rewarded for a dominant first-half display.

Chances came and went throughout the second period but any fears that Cliftonville were in for a potentially nervy finale were allayed when Ronan Hale pounced to convert from a magnificent Ben Wilson assist.
