Reds are better by half

Dungannon Swifts 1-4 Cliftonville

Four second-half goals saw Cliftonville turn things around to get the better of Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

After a below par opening 45 minutes during which the hosts had taken a deserved lead through Matthew Lusty, it looked a long way back for an off-colour Reds side, for whom a leveller early in the second period was crucial.

It duly arrived when Joe Gormley slammed home on 52 minutes and, shortly afterwards, Ronan Hale dispossessed Dean Curry before coolly slotting past goalkeeper Conor Mitchell.

The contest wasn’t put to bed until the closing exchanges when, with Dungannon pouring forward in search of an equaliser, they were picked off by a clinical double from Ben Wilson, who first converted from a Rory Hale cut back before finishing things off following some wing wizardry from Stephen Mallon.
