Performance play

Paddy McLaughlin says that a “big performance” is required when Cliftonville take on Glentoran tomorrow.

The Reds travel to The Oval for the last of a three-game away run in the Danske Bank Premiership and McLaughlin is braced for a stern test from a side he rates highly.

“Big games require big performances and we’ve always performed really well at The Oval, so we are going to need that again,” he explains.

“They are a top side. Larne and Glentoran are the two leaders of the pack – the two of them have been superb since the start of the season.

“Some people say we are a contender one week and then we’re not the next – but we’re not looking at League tables or anything like that, it’s not even Christmas yet.

“We’re just trying to accumulate as many points as we can and stay on the coat-tails of Glentoran and Larne because they have hit the ground running with really strong performances.

“It’s up to us and everyone else to stay in touch with the leading pack as long as we can and see where it takes us.”

Cliftonville supporters travelling to The Oval for the game are advised to allow extra journey time due to an event at the nearby SSE Arena throughout the day.

Parking will also be limited in the immediate vicinity and Reds fans are encouraged to factor this into their matchday routine ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off.
