Christmas Appeal 2022

This year will see Cliftonville Football Club host our eighth annual Foodbank Collection and we are delighted to assist The Ardoyne Association in their Christmas drive to support families within our community.

The collection will be held ahead of the Reds’ Danske Bank Premiership fixture with Newry City next Saturday, November 26 and supporters are invited to bring foods – with particular recommendations for easy-to-carry items such as Smash dried potatoes, Fray Bentos pies, corned meat and tinned ham – which will be gathered at a specially designated area near the Solitude turnstiles.

The appeal also heralds the beginning of the Club’s formal partnership with Fans Supporting Foodbanks NI, an initiative designed to help football supporters assist local foodbanks and which will see all goods donated next week gathered for further distribution to those in need, with the Ardoyne Association appreciative of the opportunity to make up Christmas Hampers and prepare for 2023 with the support of Cliftonville FC.

“Fans Supporting Foodbanks is a grassroots community initiative supporting the fight against hunger across our communities,” explained Paul Doherty.

“Fan-led collections of non-perishable food at grounds will help fill the shelves of local foodbanks and also provide support and show solidarity with people living in crisis right now.”
