Turning the tables

Luke Turner insists it’s too early to pay any attention to the Danske Bank Premiership table and says Cliftonville’s focus is simply on winning each new game as it comes along.

The Reds return to League duty when they welcome Newry City to Solitude tomorrow and Turner is eager to ensure a positive outcome.

“Newry have just been promoted and they’re going to want to impress,” he says. “We want to keep our good home form going from last year.”

The 20-year-old adds: “We’re not looking at the table.

“We’re looking at trying to build on clean sheets and the strikers want to score goals. Hopefully together, that’s going to make for a good recipe for doing well in the season.”

You can read the full Turner interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Carrying pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s fifth issue of the campaign also reflects on Cliftonville Ladies’ end-of-season schedule as well as stepping 135, 84 and 14 years back down memory lane.

Our Matchday Magazine attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ last eight annual awards polls – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
