Adding up for more

Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to announce that Jonny Addis has this evening signed a contract extension.

The 29-year-old central defender enjoyed an exquisite first season with the Reds, for whom he has made 47 appearances since arriving from Ballymena United.

Formerly with Carrick Rangers and Glentoran, Addis quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite at Solitude and as well as collecting the Club’s Player of the Year award at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, was also voted Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates.

After securing the player until 2024, Cliftonville boss Paddy McLaughlin commented: “Jonny was a player we knew could come in and make a big contribution, but the impact he’s made has been phenomenal.

“He’s a leader out there on the pitch, always keeps his cool and was well deserving of all the awards he won at the end of last season. There’s only one way you get awards like that – and that’s by being consistently good and reliable week in, week out, which we certainly was.

“We think he can go on to have an more of an impact in a Red shirt and I know the fans and his team-mates will be really pleased to hear that he’s extending his stay with us.”
