It’s been nine weeks since Cliftonville’s new away strip was unveiled and supporters around the world have wasted no time in snapping up their replicas from The Reds Shop.

With social media timelines full of imagery of fans sporting their new colours here, there and everywhere – be it on sunshine breaks or European trips – today we’re winding the clock back to some altogether less favourable conditions as we step behind the scenes of our May 18 photoshoot.

Cliftonville kit launches have been held at a variety of locations over the years but never before have the elements been so harsh, with high winds, heavy rain and rapidly decreasing temperatures forcing a last-minute change of scene.

While some fans were at Solitude watching our Ladies team register an 8-0 victory over Mid Ulster, defender Shona Davis was whisked away to meet up with Ryan Curran and Eimear Campbell at Bridges Urban Park in Belfast City Centre where, against the backdrop of Europa League Final commentary emanating from car radios, the weather was braved and some bemused skateboarders displayed admirable patience as our cameras clicked into life.

The strip has been met with enthusiastic acclaim from supporters around the world, who have been eagerly adding to their collections with a jersey whose eye-catching green and white chevrons are complemented by green shorts and socks to present a vibrant new look for the Reds on the road.
