Playing for keeps

Cliftonville FC are pleased to reveal that Declan Breen has signed his first professional contract with the Club.

Despite being just 19-years-old, the promising young goalkeeper’s association with the Reds is already approaching a decade, having first joined up at Solitude back in August 2013.

After spending the 2017/18 season with Ridgeway Rovers, Breen returned to become a regular presence throughout Cliftonville’s Academy set-up and helped our Olympic side win the Premiership Development League in 2020, since when he has become a recognised member of our first-team squad.

In a further boost for the Goalkeepers’ Union at Solitude, Ruadhán McKenna has also extended his stay with the Club.

The 20-year-old is, like Breen, in his second spell with Cliftonville, having been on the books from 2019 until 2021 before returning earlier this year via a short stint at Derry City.
