Let’s get Dan to business

Daniel Kearns admits Ballymena United represent a dangerous obstacle to Cliftonville’s prospects of a place in the League Cup Final.

The sides meet at Solitude in this evening’s semi-final clash just 10 days on from a tense Danske Bank Premiership encounter that saw both teams demonstrate their quality for long stretches.

“We know it is going to be a difficult game, it’s a cup competition and we know how good Ballymena are,” says Kearns.

“They’re on a decent run at the minute and they’re coming off the back of a brilliant win against Larne on Friday night.

“It’s going to be difficult, but it’s a game we’re looking forward to and hopefully we can put on a performance and get the victory that will take us to the Final.”

You can read the full Kearns interview in tonight’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 14th issue of the campaign reflects on United’s stark turnaround and steps 132, 89 and 30 years back down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ last eight annual awards polls – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
