Sub story for O’Neill

Paul O’Neill made a substitute appearance as Northern Ireland Under-21s were beaten 1-0 by Russia in this evening’s Euro 2023 Qualifier in Khimki.

O’Neill replaced Ballymena United striker Ryan Waide early in the second-half of the Group C clash, for which Cliftonville team-mate Declan Dunne was an unused sub.

Both players will now be part of the squad that travels to Seville to face Spain on Tuesday, when fellow Solitude youngsters Luke McNicholas and Luke Turner will be on duty with the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s for their game against Montenegro in Podgorica.
