Casting Lukes

Luke Turner and Luke McNicholas have been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for the forthcoming European Championship qualifier with Montenegro.

Jim Crawford’s side will be in action in Podgorica on Tuesday and everyone at Cliftonville naturally extends best wishes to Turner and McNicholas – who are on loan at Solitude from Aberdeen and Sligo Rovers, respectively – for the game.

As a consequence of these international call-ups, which come in addition to Declan Dunne and Paul O’Neill being on duty with Northern Ireland’s Under-21s, Cliftonville’s League Cup third round tie with Ards next Wednesday has been postponed and will now be played at a to-be-confirmed later date.

The Reds’ next fixture is therefore the Danske Bank Premiership tie with Larne at Solitude on Saturday, October 16.
