A Canny addition

Cliftonville Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Marty McCann as First-Team Coach.

The former Reds midfielder was introduced to the players before last night’s County Antrim Shield defeat of Knockbreda and says he’s looking forward to getting to work with them on the training pitch.

A Premier League title-winner, McCann – who scored two goals in 69 appearances for the Club over two spells between 1992 and 1998 – arrives following this week’s departure of Kris Lindsay, who has recently taken up a new job which unfortunately means he is unable to remain part of Paddy McLaughlin’s backroom staff.

Everyone at Cliftonville places on record our sincere thanks to Kris for his sterling work during his six months at the Club and we naturally wish him very well for the future.

cliftonvillefc.net caught up with McCann ahead of last night’s game when, in addition to expressing his pleasure upon returning to Solitude, he reflected on that 1998 title-win and the moment that almost saw him alter the course of Reds history.
