Gall of duty

Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Gallagher.

The 22-year-old central midfielder, who joins from Glentoran, has caught the eye with a string of scintillating performances in the Danske Bank Premiership over the last few seasons and met his new team-mates for training at Solitude this evening.

“I want to get into the team, try and cement my spot, play as many games as I can and help the team get back to where we need to go,” he said after putting pen to paper with the Reds.

“To me, that’s challenging up towards the top end of the table and qualifying for Europe.”

Formerly with Shrewsbury Town, ‘Cricky’ began his career in the Linfield Academy prior to his move to England, where he also enjoyed loan spells with Stalybridge Celtic and Stourbridge, and has represented Northern Ireland at various levels up to the Under-21s.

He made a total of 92 appearances during his three years with the Glens and, coincidentally, opened his senior scoring account when he found the net against Cliftonville at Solitude in November 2019 – a moment he recalls in an exclusive first interview with cliftonvillefc.net which will be published tomorrow.
