Jam session

Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Jamie McDonagh.

A dynamic winger with an eye for goal, the 25-year-old, who joins from Glentoran, will be in the panel for this evening’s pre-season friendly fixture with Ards at Solitude (7.30pm).

Having starred for Greenock Morton, Sligo Rovers and Derry City before moving to the Danske Bank Premiership last summer, McDonagh – whose youth career took in spells at Portadown, Linfield and Sheffield United – has represented Northern Ireland at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level and is the current holder of the NIFWA Goal of the Season accolade… not that Reds fans will have particularly fond memories of the last-minute volley he rocketed in at The Oval back in February.

Cliftonville FC can, in addition, confirm that goalkeeper Aaron McCarey has moved to Glentoran as part of the deal following 28 appearances for the Club, while we extend best wishes to young duo Darren Hyland and Lee O’Brien following their moves to Belfast Celtic.

Keep an eye on cliftonvillefc.net for an exclusive interview with new recruit McDonagh very soon.
