Foster care

Seanna Foster hopes he’s timed his return to fitness perfectly as Cliftonville target a strong finish to a challenging season.

Welcomed back into the team when Saturday’s 5-0 defeat of Carrick Rangers brought the curtain down on the Danske Bank Premiership’s pre-split programme, Foster – who had been sidelined since before Christmas – is eagerly counting down the minutes until the Reds lock horns with Porstewart in this evening’s Sadler’s Peaky Blinder Irish Cup first round tie.

“We all can’t wait to get the Cup campaign under way,” says the 24-year-old.

“A couple of us haven’t played as much as we’d like to because of injuries and now we’re starting to come back in. These games are perfect to get our squad built back up.

“We’ve got a big, big squad and everyone is raring to go and it’s good for competition.”

You can read the full Foster interview in tonight’s digital edition of The Red Eye, which will be available here on cliftonvillefc.net ahead of kick-off.

Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, our Matchday Magazine’s 21st issue of the campaign carries all the stats behind the Reds’ recent form and a look at Portstewart’s wait for a return to action – plus plenty more besides.
