Doherty’s goalden key
Ronan Doherty says he’s determined to build on Saturday’s winning strike against Larne by getting his name on the scoresheet more often.
Ahead of this evening’s Danske Bank Premiership encounter with Ballymena United at Solitude, the midfielder reveals that Manager Paddy McLaughlin has been encouraging him to become more involved in the final third.
“I don’t score too many and this is my first in the League, but hopefully that’s the start of it because I really need to pitch in with more,” admits the 25-year-old.
“It’s something I need to improve on and Paddy has been giving me a bit of stick that I should be pushing up and shooting a lot more.
“We need more goals from midfield and if I can add that to my game and help the team out with a few more, I’ll be more than happy.”
You can read the full Doherty interview in tonight’s digital edition of The Red Eye, which will be available here on cliftonvillefc.net ahead of kick-off.
