Game for a response

Cliftonville might be in the midst of an unforgiving fixture schedule, but Ryan Curran is grateful to have a match so soon after Saturday’s loss to Glentoran.

The Reds play host to Warrenpoint Town in the Danske Bank Premiership this evening and Curran – who contributed three goals during an unbeaten January – insists he and his team-mates will be fired up to deliver a response against an improving opponent.

“It’s probably a good thing that the game is coming around so fast because after Saturday’s disappointment, we want to put things right,” he says.

“We didn’t do ourselves justice on Saturday and I think we’ve a point to prove to ourselves as well as the fans.

“Warrenpoint are just off the back of a good result at the weekend. I think they’re probably better than the table says and the points they’ve accumulated this year. They’ve beat Linfield this year and have some very good players.

“They’re a good side, we played them earlier in the season and beat them 3-0 so we’ll be looking to get a win and try and be as convincing as possible. But I think the main thing is to get a win and a performance and do ourselves justice from the disappointment of Saturday.”

You can read the full Curran interview in tonight’s digital edition of The Red Eye, which will be available here on cliftonvillefc.net ahead of kick-off.

Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 13th issue of the campaign carries all the stats behind the Reds’ recent form and a look at how Warrenpoint have enjoyed upsetting the odds – plus plenty more besides.
