Stable buoy

Daire O’Connor believes Cliftonville can provide the stability he’s looking for in his career – just as soon as he’s shown what he’s capable of.

Ahead of this evening’s County Antrim Shield semi-final tie with Glentoran at Solitude, O’Connor says he has the patience and work ethic to prove he’s worth a place in Paddy McLaughlin’s line-up and is determined to make the most of the opportunities he is given to perform.

“I was never under the impression that I was just going to rock up here and go straight into the team,” explains the 23-year-old.

“Like anyone else, I have to work hard in training, take whatever chances come my way and earn the right to play in this team.

“I’ve only been here a couple of weeks but I’ve enjoyed it so far. There’s a good bunch of lads here and I did a little bit of research before I signed, so I know Cliftonville’s a well-run Club that I’m looking forward to being a part of.

“I’m coming off the back of, shall we say, a bit of a turbulent time at Cork City so a big thing I was looking for in my next move was stability and I believe I can find that here.”
