Let’s Carri the fight

Conor McMenamin says Cliftonville are itching to get back to action following the disappointment of last week’s North Belfast Derby loss against Crusaders.

The 25-year-old was one of three Reds players forced out of that game by injury but, as he continues his recuperation, he has backed his team-mates to respond in the right manner when they host Carrick Rangers on Danske Bank Premiership duty tomorrow – while warning against any repeat of their Seaview display.

“If we play like we did against Crusaders, we won’t win so it’s important we bounce back,” he insists.

“We’re confident of beating anybody at home, but it’s hard to come in to losing the derby. It was a very hard one to take.

“Carrick will be a tough game. There’s no easy games now and we need to bounce back to winning ways because if we get back to back defeats, it could be a long, long year.

“The performance wasn’t good enough and we know it.”
