Mellow yellow

On the 41st anniversary of Cliftonville’s most recent Irish Cup Final win, it’s perhaps appropriate that a strip similar to that sported by the Club’s heroes of 1979 is today announced as the latest to qualify for the last 16 of our Away Kit Battle.

With hundreds of Reds fans having participated in this weekend’s poll, the yellow and blue ensemble – worn by the team that lifted the CIS Insurance Cup in the 2003/04 season – took 54% of the vote to book its place in the next round at the expense of the lime-green and navy reverse from the 1999/00 term.

The defeated jersey will not, however, drop out of the race entirely and will later join the other first phase losers in a second-chance saloon as we bid to compile the definitive list of the Club’s best and worst away kits of the last 30 years.

Everyone will naturally have their own favourite efforts and, with just a few days to wait until our next head-to-head battle, have you decided which strip you’d vote for out of any given combination?

Last 16 Qualifiers to date
