Lux good for McGuinness

Stephen McGuiness has been selected in the Northern Ireland Under 17 squad that has travelled to Luxembourg to contest a four-team qualifying tournament for next year’s U17 European Championships.

The Cliftonville defender will be part of the panel that tackles Turkey tomorrow before facing Italy on Sunday and concludes its Group 2 campaign against the hosts next Wednesday, October 30.

The top two teams in each of the 13 qualifying groups – as well as the four third-placed sides with the best records against the leading pair – will progress to an Elite Round next March, when they will compete for places in the Finals, which will be hosted by Estonia between May 21 and June 6.
