Joe’s a team player

Congratulations to Joe Gormley, who has been named in the Premiership Team of the Year.

Determined by the NI Football Writers’ Association and Clubs across the NI Football League, the Team of the Year selection acknowledges the stand-out performers of the 2017/18 campaign – and it will come as no surprise to any Cliftonville fans to see Gormley make the grade.

The Reds striker, who has once again won the Premiership’s Golden Boot award, has two nominations for Goal of the Season – March’s chip against Loughgall and April’s power-blast against Crusaders – but faces competition from Solitude team mate Daniel Reynolds, who landed August’s Goal of the Month accolade for an eye-catching strike against Coleraine while on loan at Larne, with the winner set to be announced at tomorrow night’s NI Football Awards.
