Ryan Catney may be counting down the minutes until next season, but he’s backed his team mates to finish the current term on a high.

Cliftonville’s final Danske Bank Premiership home game of the campaign sees Glenavon visit Solitude tomorrow and Catney – sidelined since breaking his leg in January of last year – believes the Reds can sign off with a vital victory.

“We have the chance to claim some ground against Glenavon and go level on points with them,” he explains.

“There is a good buzz about training and we have taken it into matches. If we can just get that consistency right, it will put us in the right direction.”

On his own comeback plans, the 31-year-old adds: “I’m back running and getting fit and the aim is now to get fit in time for pre-season.”

You can read the full Catney interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

In addition to boss Barry Gray’s pre-match views, The Red Eye’s 25th issue of the season casts an eye over our visitors, steps 11, 62 and 101 years back down memory lane and delivers your latest player poster – plus plenty more besides.
