Top of the Har
Despite approaching tomorrow’s Danske Bank Premiership encounter with Ballymena United on the back of four wins without conceding a goal, Jamie Harney believes Cliftonville are capable of improving on recent performances.
The Reds are seeking to end November on a winning note against a Sky Blues outfit who arrive at Solitude bidding to extend a six-match unbeaten run of their own – and Harney is expecting a testing afternoon.
“It has been a good few weeks for us, but we all know individually and as a team we can go up a few more gears and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later,” he says.
“Ballymena will come into the game with a lot of confidence and so will we. It will be an interesting game and we are raring to go.”
You can read the full Harney interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50 and which contains the 21-year-old’s reflections of a particularly memorable behind-closed-doors match from his West Ham days.
“We were all lined up for the game,” he recalls, “and it was a front three of Messi, Aguero and Di Maria…”
Alongside boss Barry Gray’s pre-game views, The Red Eye’s 13th issue of the campaign reviews the visitors’ season to date, steps off the pitch to boost your poster collection and turns the clock back 39, 50 and 67 years – plus plenty more besides.
Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last six seasons so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
