Olympic kick-start donations

Cliftonville Olympic players and staff have got the ball rolling on the Foodbank Collection that will be central to a busy weekend of activities and engagements at Solitude.

Reds fans are invited to bring foods – with particular recommendations for easy-to-carry items such as Smash dried potatoes, Fray Bentos pies, corned meat and tinned ham – which will be gathered at a specially designated area near the turnstiles ahead of tomorrow’s Danske Bank Premiership fixture with Glentoran.

These goods will then be donated to North Belfast Advice Partnership for further distribution to those in need in our local area, with the organisation appreciative of the opportunity to make up Christmas Hampers and prepare for 2020 with the support of Cliftonville FC.

The Club asks that, where possible, any supporters conducting their own food shopping this week pick up an extra item or two for inclusion in tomorrow’s collection.

In the countdown to kick-off, meanwhile, we’ll have live music in the Social Club (1-3pm) for the Red Army to enjoy as the matchday atmosphere builds, while The Reds Shop’s discount sale (which is available exclusively online all day today) will commence in-store, offering fans 10% off all merchandise purchases of £40 or more – and, while you’re there, why not take the opportunity to secure your ticket for next weekend’s League clash with Linfield at Windsor Park?

Though Cliftonville’s Premiership battle with the Glens will bring the curtain down on a busy Saturday, all supporters are encouraged to return early on Sunday when the Solitude Development Committee will be hosting their latest Coffee Morning.

Staged in the Media Room within the McAlery Stand from 10am-1.30pm, the occasion will see fans invited to enjoy eachothers’ company while sampling tea, coffee, scones, tray bakes and plenty more besides, all the while helping to boost the Committee’s fundraising coffers.

The event – which always proves a popular attraction among fans – is open to all, with anyone who would like to contribute to the products on sale encouraged to make contact with the SDC as soon as possible.
