Bangor management

Conor McDermott has warned against any underestimation of Bangor tonight – as he challenged Cliftonville to set their sights on League Cup success.

The Reds host the Seasiders in this evening’s Third Round tie at Solitude, where McDermott believes only a professional display will be sufficient to secure a Quarter-Final berth.

“You can’t underestimate any team,” says the 22-year-old.

“Football is a weird game, if you take your foot off the gas and don’t perform the way you should, it can come back to bite you. We’re going to be up for it and play a good team in Bangor.

“We’re going to go out and try and win the Cup – that’s our main aim.”

You can read the full McDermott interview in this this evening’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Featuring Paddy McLaughlin’s pre-match views, The Red Eye’s eighth issue of the campaign reflects on Bangor’s recent travails and steps 132, 28 and 17 years back down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last eight seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
