Stephen Garrett struck a late winner as Cliftonville Olympic beat Linfield Swifts 1-0 at Solitude last night to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premiership Development League season.

The Reds – who have now claimed 16 points from six games – got off to a cagey start but began to take control of proceedings in the closing stages of the first-half and built upon that trend after the break, working hard in an attempt to break the deadlock against a stubborn Blues side.

Just as the contest looked set to peter out to a goallless draw, however, a little bit of creative magic from Padraig Slane ended with him darting to the byline and cutting back for Garrett to coolly finish.
